I decided to do a fun portrait photography photoshoot with 2 M42 vintage lenses including the Super-Takumar 55mm f2 and Super-Takumar 35mm f3.5. The 55mm f2 ended up being my favourite lens out of the 2 on the day. We were in a park, so the bokeh from this lens looked incredible! It was golden hour during this photoshoot, so I used the soft sunlight directly on the model which ended up being my best shots of the day. Due to the shallow depth of field, it was tricky to get focus on my subject’s eyes wide open. I took extra photos on the day to allow for any missed focus mistakes since both the model and I were moving around quite a lot.

The 35mm f3.5 on the other hand was a lot easier to focus with the smaller aperture. Because of this, I captured movement portraits with my model walking and skipping around in the location. I felt like I shot differently during golden hour than I normally would with an autofocus lens. I chose to exaggerate and make the most of the lens flares in these back-lit photos.
