It's been a long day starting at 4am for sunrise landscape photography, then a trip to Lake Gousau and finally a stop in the town of Hallstatt. I have visited Hallstatt a few years ago during the spring. It's strange on that trip I was wearing a thick turtle neck jumper and on this trip just a light dress!

We arrived with enough time to power walk to a new viewpoint I never had the chance to visit before. I was on a mission to get there in time to have enough light to photograph the view. And luckily we did get there in the nick of time!

I photographed the scene with a few different lenses. I tried the GM 14mm f1.8 which provided an interesting subjective. Ultimately though it was too wide and I thought the church was lost in the scene. I also used the GM 35mm f1.4 and what ended up being my favourite focal length for this spot - the GM 24mm f1.4.

On our way back to the car, I photographed some of the colourful buildings in Hallstatt. I also stopped to capture a portrait of this swan. He looked so majestic swimming in the still lake with the mountains in the background!
