After capturing foggy sunrise photos of the mountains and lake, Dan and I headed to Gosau Lake. Since it is the middle of summer, the lake was PACKED! We could not find a parking spot for a couple of hours, so we waited patiently in the car. Honestly it wasn't too bad as we were sooo tired from the sunrise start. It was nice to relax in the shade of the trees away from the heat.

A couple of hours later, we decided to try our luck again. We managed to find a spot! It was still a ways down from the main parking lot and we had to walk uphill to get to the lake. To be completely honest, I think it was a pretty steep incline. As we were walking up my calves were burning me and it felt like they were going to pop lol. The walk up was very worth it though! Gousau Lake is absolutely incredible.

It was so cool seeing how this is the lake a lot of locals come to when it's a heatwave day. Most people were packing up for the day, but there were still some families and groups of people sitting on the rocks of the shoreline. There were also quite a few people out on the lake in boats.

We set off the loop walk around the lake and it was such a stunning stroll. I loved every minute of it and kept stopping to take photos. I kept my camera kit simple for this day trip, I am using the Sony A7IV with the GM 35mm f1.4. I was contemplating coming here for sunrise but I'm happy we visited in the afternoon. The second half of the lake was all backlit and I captured some of my favourite photos where you can see the moon plus the jagged peaks of the mountains. Austria is SO incredible!
