Dan and I were on our longest road trip haul through Italy yet making our way from Florence in the Tuscany region to Positano on the Amalfi Coast when we came across this gem in Italy’s south.

Towards the end of our trip, we had one last place we wanted to visit which was Positano. Since we were in Florence, that meant making a 6 hour drive to get to the coast! Oops.. didn’t plan that one ahead! On one of the many stops we made along the way, we decided to search and see if there was anything we could do to break up the drive which is where we found this beach. After hours and hours on being on the highway, we caught our first glimpse of the ocean and we started smiling immediately. We turned left onto the road which lines the beach and had the most beautiful mountain view ahead of us - it reminded me of Hawaii

We parked the car and made our way down one of the little sandy alleyways between the holiday houses to the beach. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around and relaxing on the sand, taking a break from all that driving. We got to see the sun set over the ocean which is something I’ve only ever seen twice before in my life and we noticed that all the people on this beach were just locals - not another tourist in sight! For this reason, I’d rather not name the beach we found and help keep it a locals secret/haven from the tourist saturated cities in Italy.

It was the perfect way to end off the day and we felt rejuvenated to keep driving through the night to make it to our destination of Positano - which is coming in the next blog post!
