The Sigma 35mm f1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF is a budget friendly, fast prime lens. I am using the Sigma 35mm f1.4 on the Canon 5D mark4 for portrait photography. Watch the video below to see our beach photoshoot behind the scenes where we capture closeup portraits and movement photos with this lens.
The 35mm focal length is my favourite and most used lens as a full time portrait and wedding photographer. I currently shoot on the Sony A7III, so my main lens is the GM 35mm f1.4. Before I switched systems to Sony, I was a full time Canon shooter. I used the Canon 5D mark 2, 3 and 4 with the 35mm f1.4 mark 1, then eventually upgraded to the mark 2. However, all these lenses are costly and what sets the Sigma 35mm f1.4 apart is the quality you're getting at a low price.
I've even compared the Sigma 35mm f1.4 vs Canon 35mm f1.4 mark 2 at a portrait photoshoot so you can see the differences. Although the Sigma can miss focus when using it on DSLR cameras, the final results are pretty similar for portrait photography.
Here are my portrait photography samples on the Sigma 35mm f1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF.
