The Samyang 24mm tilt shift lens is a lens typically used for architecture and urban photography. In today's photoshoot, we are going to use this lens in an unconventional way by capturing portraits. Not only is this an unconventional portrait lens because of the tilt shift mechanism. But the fact that it is a wide angle 24mm will also make this quite the challenge!

Using lenses in a way they weren't designed for can lead to some interesting results and help get the creativity flowing. I love the blur added to the images from the tilt-shift effect. I experimented throughout the shoot with both horizontal and vertical blur. When I shot mid length environmental portraits, I felt like it added a really nice cinematic feel to the images.

Personally, I prefer the landscape images with horizontal blur. This lens, the moody weather and Sydney beautiful water created some results I was very happy with!
